Some of my memorable musically observed experiences at the South By Southwest Music Festival, 2008 in Austin, Texas:

1. The Brazilian Girls
{Field Notes: Mark asked me before the set started if I thought the singer was a woman. I didn’t know if it was a rhetorical question… But I when I heard her voice I still didn’t know. }

2. Teenage Bottle Rocket
{Field Notes: Wyoming Rocks. }

3. The Black Keys
{Field Notes: Ohio Rocks. Really hard.- Though I may be biased. }

4. Mason Jennings
{Field Notes: I wish we were friends. This is the most dogs I’ve ever seen at a live music performance. I really wish we were friends.}

5. Slim Cessna’s Auto Club
{Field Notes: Holy Jesus. This makes me want to believe in something, but I am not sure it is You. }
